I first got into blogging when I was teaching in the far west of China - and needed, for sanity's sake, a virtual window out of which to shout from time to time. These days, Other Excuses is my regular space for thinking out loud.

Over at The School of Everything, you can follow our progress through the team blog. My alter ego Duke Aldhein pipes up occasionally on Anthony McCann's Crafting Gentleness.

From 2004 to 2006, I kept a LiveJournal as an excuse for occasional rants and bits of introspection. Other places I hang out online include the fascinating Alan Garner discussion list, and the Sheffield Forum.
