My work grows out of conversations, both online and in First Life.

For personal reasons, I am spending less time in London than I used to - and I've also become increasingly aware of the limits of my ability to handle the amount of interest and attention my work can generate. This means that I may seem less accessible than used to be the case.

But I've only ever been one part of a much larger web of collaboration and conversation, and if something on this site has inspired you, there are plenty of ways to get involved.

• The Uncivilisation Network is an online space in which to carry on the conversations around the Dark Mountain Project. There are local groups organising face-to-face meetups and events around the UK and beyond.

• Tuttle Club is a friendly gathering on a Friday morning in London, bringing together all sorts of interesting creative, collaborative and social media types. Hosted by my friend Lloyd Davis, this was one of the hubs around which the original Institute for Collapsonomics gang coalesced. You can join in, 10.00-12.00 on Fridays at the Centre for Creative Collaboration, near Kings Cross station.

• Everything Unplugged is a Wednesday morning meetup at London's Royal Festival Hall which grew out of School of Everything: Unplugged, a gathering that Tony Hall and I started in 2009. A smaller group than Tuttle, this is a relaxed space to talk about self-organised learning, technology and social change.

• The West Norwood Feast is a monthly street market and festival in south London, owned and run by the local community. It grew out of a Space Makers project in collaboration with Lambeth council in 2011. The local team are always looking for new people to get involved with running the events, while Feast days themselves are not to be missed.

• The original Space Makers Network is due for an overhaul, but still has hundreds of members involved or interested in the creative reuse of underused space.
• You'll occasionally find me posting on the Alan Garner list hosted on Yahoo! Groups, which I joined in about 2003. It was through that list that I first experienced the power of the internet to bring together conversations that would never happen elsewhere.
